For my clay students I actually call this "little junk," but
it is one of the more fun things I do and a favorite of my
customers. I have come to enjoy hand building (things made
without the use of the wheel) as much as I do throwing, and I estimate
that my time is probably split 50/50 between the two.
All of my hand built things are made with reclaimed clay (clay left
over from throwing) to keep things green. Before it's fired, clay
can be reclaimed forever, and it's just as good and strong as new
clay. And for a tiny note of nostalgia, there is probably a
minuscule percentage of my original clay still making its way through
all future batches of reclaim and in the products below. :)
