what we do!

Here at our studio in Ellington, Connecticut we throw and fire a wide variety of high quality stoneware items - some practical and some not so practical.

Our inventory is ever-evolving as we combine what we love with your tastes and needs.  Currently we've found a desire for unique centerpiece features, such as candles and votives, vases for cut flowers and decorative bowls.

Our style combines functionality with aesthetic elegance.  Our glaze palette leans toward sky and water blues that complement our creamy white clay body.  We've also found that you like our earthy smoke-fired vessels.  You'll find that much of our work focuses on capturing light in a variety of ways: Our favorite crackle glaze reflects and sparkles in daylight.  We also do this with the wine bottle glass, adding a splash of color.  The holes cut in many vessels will reflect sunlight on the curved edges as well as let candlelight out at night, creating wall patterns of light.  Most of our vessels will have a contrast of light-reflecting texture, such as a matte exterior clay body with a shiny or sparkly interior.  And last, but not least, we've started to play with night luminescence by adding some elegant glow-in-the dark lace patterns.

In our effort to help the environment, we have switched to green energy firing and have incorporated some recycled elements into our work, such as reclaimed clay and recycled glass.  Interestingly, we've found the colors and crackle patterns in the glass have become one of the favorite features of our decorative items.

We're not a big place, but we're very interested in helping you find special and unique gifts for your friends - and maybe even something special for yourself.  We're always interested in your feedback, so please feel free to email us or post your comments on our Facebook page.

We will also periodically post items with price reductions on our sale page, Candy's Corner.  There will also be some pictures of a chihuahua there, but if you don't like small dogs that's ok, just ignore the pictures and look for the pottery reductions.

And if you happen to be in driving distance, please check our events listing for upcoming sales and shows.

In the meantime, enjoy browsing and shopping online.  Look for more pictures of the chihuahua in my blog.  ;)
